I ordered it on pay-per-view more out of curiosity than with any specific knowledge about the movie, or the book upon which it is based. What an aimless, sophmoric waste of time! Rubbery Jim Henson costumes make a race of aliens who destroy the earth though bureaucratic indiffence (believe me, it may sound interesting, but the premise is handled so haplessly and with such an utter lack of imagination that the film collapes into a yawn after about 20 minutes); witless flat jokes and gags masquerade as some kind of pert social comment that might impress some of the middle schoolers; and the casting and acting is pitiable (by the way, what is John Malkovitch doing in this movie?).
It's all supposed to be very rompy and campy -- and there is plenty of romp, but they should have romped on the script before the put it into production. And camp is high comedy in comparision to the foolish fare served in this turkey dinner. Watch it on the sofa after your real thanksgiving dinner -- it'll hasten the traditional after meal snooze quicker than a gallon of fortified apple cider. And if you happen NOT to fall asleep, you have my condolences.
