"Capote"

Truman Capote set out in his New Yorker articles (later a best selling book) to show the effect that the murder of a family in a small Kansas town had on the town. As he proceeded, however, the focus became the killers themselves, especially Perry Smith. Phillip Seymor Hoffman is remarkable as Capote, not an imitation but capturing the essense of Capote, much as Anthony Hopkins did in "Nixon". It took Capote six years to finish the job and during this time his friend Harper Lee published "To Kill a Mockingbird" and saw it made into a successful film. The story here is played low key and shows Capote's working methods warts and all. Superb cinematography.
