A very powerful film, if a bit dated to some, about the comparative worths of "civilization" and "primitive" societies. The footage of the aborigines and the other New Guinea tribes is spectacular.
Shroeder is a strange director and he's been so for a long time, apparently. 
Reversal of Fortune and Maria Full of Grace are, obviously, superior works but OBC has an unsurpassed beauty and freedom from cynicism which is infectious.
Oh, the story: a bourgeois woman seeking to trade in tribal artifacts becomes seduced by a group of outcasts whose goal is to find a mythical valley in remote New Guinea. Imagine Belle de Jour gone wild...
