ALthough I didn't think the first part of the relationship between Jack and Innis was that convincing, the overall film is very good.
I feel sorry for those who have felt the need to express their homophobia here as this isn't even the core of the film.
The central theme is that it isn't who you love but how you love that defines you.
Jack is exhuberant and giving but Innis is withdrawn and unresponsive.
Right to the end, Innis cannot just plain cannot open up even to his daughter.
