One always expects something good from Italian movie makers, and while lately the Italian landscape has been mostly rather barren, every now and then you have something of interest.Do not expect much from Ricordati Di Me, though. You will pretty much get two hours of pointless meandering, albeit with some European flare.
All along you will be getting that sensation that you have already seen all that, and you will be right. None of the situations is new to any degree, and even the participants' reactions product nothing but the sence of acute familiarity.
In part because most of us with families and kids have already experienced something if not quite as unpleasant, at least reminiscent. And in part due to relative lack of revelations in this film.
But we have to be fair here - "don't expect much" in relation to Italian cinema is still a very high mark. If you are interested in people and not CGI, then you will still find plenty to chew on in this work. So overall this will not be lost time, and it might even qualify as family entertainment, particularly if you have teenage kids.
As a side benefit, you get to look at aging Monica Bellucci, whose uncommon beauty has always far exceeded her acting talent...
Overall, if you like those soft family drama's, but with far less syrup than you normally find in your typical American production (should I even bother mentioning Terms of Endearment?), and... with far better fashion, then Ricordati might fit your bill like those ultra-hot shorts on Valentina... and who would forget those?
