mostly enjoyed it

This movie got seriously mixed reviews. And it was indeed slow and a little bit obvious in its message. But Malick makes beautiful visuals. From the many shots of nature, to the Indian village, to the English settlement, and back to England of that time, everything looked incredible. OK you can pick holes in this movie, that's not hard. For one thing, John Smith sees the Indians as peaceful and Malick seems to be seriously stating that they are in perfect harmony with nature and living in some sort of paradise. And yet they come in war paint, with weapons of war, and the men's games are all training for war. But I thought the portrayal of the Indian village was fabulous, although probably sheer fantasy. I liked it.
