Jonathan Demme/Neil Young, Heart Of Gold, Thnx LWR

What can I say? A documentary of a "made for movie" concert (actually 2). Not a word by anyone other than the band members. No interviews, just some opening chit chat and what, 1.5 hours of music?

This performance confirms that Neil, if not at the peak of his formidable performance and creative powers, is within reach of them. Far, far, from being washed up or creatively dried up. Especially considering hes been creating for close to 40 years!

The only disappoinment I had was the exclusion of He Was The King from his performance of Paririe Wind. In retrospect, both Kathy and I thought the exclusion correct, considering the overall flow and tone of the show. Excellent old songs in "part two". Some lesser played, but luvly songs nonetheless, showed up along with a few hits.

This mostly acoustic show isn't only for fans of Mr. Young, its for fans of music. If "And God Made Me" doesn't give ya goosebumps, check yer pulse. Camera work was great. It focused on the performers and it wasn't until the very end that it even looked out toward the crowd. Numerous occasions of theatergoers clapping after songs, such was the feel of being "there". A thorough round of applause at the concert's conclusion from typically very restrained Dallas audience. The best $5.50 in entertainment I've spent in many a moon. Highly recommended.

P.S. EmmyLou Harris may be the best looking 60 yr. old on the planet.
