I used to be the Review Editor for Continuo Magazine (betcha never heard of THAT one!).One day, the editor/publisher, Mat Redsell, decided to hire a "proofreader", a retired schoolteacher who didn't know her a** from a hole in the ground when it came to music journalism, or for that matter much else.
This broad nearly destroyed my column, and several of my reviewers threatened to quit over it (obviously the column, with her "corrections", was published without my approval). I was extremely pissed, since I thought I was a pretty good editor to begin with. The publisher managed to calm me down somehow, and life went on.
It didn't matter much anyhow, as the magazine ceased publication about a year later.
