are not unusual in film these days: what would he (or she) make of the films from Asia that are much faster paced and complex?
Crash was easier to follow but Syriana had plenty of tension, excellent acting (disagree about Clooney's performance: he seemed the perfect cynic that finally saw the whole picture of his "use": he was a dupe), and stylish direction that didn't overwhelm the film but complimented the simultaneous time frames.
Syriana tackles a complex, serious subject with depth and insight... too bad the reviewer prefers a crappy bio like Aviator or a film about a second-rate musical talent with the predictable drug use, poor relationships, etc. like Walk the Line.
(there, I feel better...)
