Japanese film with Italian neo realism and American over the board sentimentality.
The first half is terribly naive, then start a film in the film who is positively boring, and then the last part gets even more sentimental a la la Hollywood plus a zest of Japanese ballet, BUT from time to time shines bright humanistic and wonderful scenes.
For them this film is highly recommended.
This film marks also the end of the collaboration between two great men.
