Remember Me, My Love . . .

Four modern Roman family members spin steadily out their comfy, routine orbits as each goes his own way. Good looking sis (17) in pursuit of showbiz, gangly son (18) chasing an intellectual girl who thinks he's a dork, mom trying to rekindle a once promising career onstage, and dad whom accidently meets up with his old flame of years before (Monica Belluchi) and desires to rekindle love in his life.

This film is well done with it frenetic editing and story-telling style. It moves quickly, keeping pace with each character and their desperate grabs for whatever fulfills them. It wobbles deftly between high drama and charming satire. It's ensemble story line reminds me of Dianne Kury's "Love After Love" but is nowhere near the contrived mess Kury's misfire was.

Hip, relevant, and Italian instead of my usual French fare. Worth a rental. (2003)
