Well, at least you are not forced to watch the trailers, you can fast forward through them. They all look like the same premise, Silent Hill, Don't Answer the Phone, and I skipped the next one.Anyway.
I did not realize this is a movie for teenagers, but it is. It is aimed at the high school crowd, Saturday night at the movies scare fest. Bad acting, no major characters over 20. The bad guy is easy to predict, and his motive for why he does terrible things makes no sense. Also, the coincidence that he meets them on a train, then happens to be at their Hosetel, is absurd.
The first section supposedly takes place in Amsterdam, I have never seen a movie that gives so little of the feel of being in a foreign city. One exterior shot (not taken in Amsterdam) and that's it. The inside shots, of a phony "Melkweig" and a phony reconstruct of the fabulous indoor brothel next to the Sex Arcade are poor. Acting is terrible; and the suspense is non-existent. Even the scene in the torture museum where one of the stautes jumps at our hero, you could see it flinching and getting ready to strike, so no surprise there.
Too much gore for this old codger, 1 hour in, and off it went, when he was removing a girl's eyeball with a tweezers\scissors.
No DTS track. There is no stereo track, just 5.1 DD.
