Robert Duvall modeled his character of a Marine officer pilot on his father in this story of his career and his relationship with his family. The family consists of his wife (Blythe Danner) and four children, all of whom have nbeen moved about the country many times as Duvall gets transferred. The relationship between him and the older son is contencious and is main part of the story. There is also another sub plot concerning the son's friendship with a "slow" beekeeper, the son of the family's maid. Good performances and a good story make this an enjoyable one to watch.
