Cagney had an explosive charm, perfect for playing killers or show business types. My favorite number in "Footlight Parade" is Forgotten Man. How about Ruby Keeler? She's kind of homely, but a kick ass hoofer (with a strange style). There are too many superlatives to mention. Look for John Garfield's brief appearance as a sailor in the Shanghai Lil number.
