No, I did not watch that Fassbinder work last night, but surely was reminded of it - the recent Russian film "Na Verkhney Maslovke" instantly brings back the momories of close space and difficult relationship stuck in it.It would not be at all surprising if the German film indeed played a role there, and the story is different enough not to hint at plagiarism, but that mood... that claustraphobic mood with two people exchanging their barbs and gestures of love was interesting.
Made thirty some years apart, in two very different countries, these two films are united by the sameness of human emotions.
