It's magic !

millen,

I suppose "magical" means different things to different people- there could be magic going on and/or the atmosphere is one of supernatural events and/or connections- events or atmosphere unlikely in reality. That's a problem as suspension of disbelief is almost universal in movies!

However, according to my sense of "magical" movies:

1. "La Belle et la Bette" (Beauty and the Beast) Cocteau, 1946
"Nosferatu" (Murnau)
"The Battleship Potemkin"
"Orlando"
"Forbidden Planet"
"That Obscure Object of Desire"
"Un chien andalou"
"Blade Runner"
"Wizard of Oz"
"Pinocchio"
"The Trial"
"Time Bandits'
"The Adventures of Baron Munchausen"
"The Fisher King"
"Prospero’s Books"
"Rebecca"
"The Bishop's Wife"
"Here comes Mr. Jordan"
"A Midsummer Night’s Dream" (1936)
"The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"
"Tommy"
"Zelig"
"The Legend of 1900"
"The Fifth Element"
"The Navigator"
"Beetlejuice"
"Starman" - thanks for the reminder mr. g !

And yes, "Lord of the Rings"

These are not in any order of preference- except- Cocteau's "La Belle et la Bette" which is the undisputed No. 1 for me.

Cheers,

Bambi B
