"Far and Away"

This is, I believe, the last featurte film to be shot in 70 mm. It stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman,. It was directed by Ron Howard. The music is by John Williams. Despite all this it is one of the flattest, most uninvolving movies I have ever seen. The characters are one dimensional and the story moves entirely by coincidence. It tells of a poor Irish tenant farmer and a rich landowner's daughter who come to America and eventually get invoved in the 1893 Oklahoma land rush. In the middle they spend a lot of time in Boston mostly peeniless.

By the by, although IMDB shows as a goof the number of stars on the American flag shiown I paused the disc and counted and there are 44 stars, the correct number for the period.

Not recommended.
