Robert Altman made this one after his comeback film, "The Player" in 1992. He wrote the screenplay and it is based on a number on interlocking stories of modern L.A. residents, all of whom have little control over their lives, although they think they do. Some of the characters meet but most do not. Each is in am occupation they most likely fell into. Everything here seems on the brink of disaster, from the opening helicopters spraying medflies on. All in all a depressing film, lightened by small touches of irony and dark humor.
