"The Family Stone"

Sarah Jessica Parker is a successfful career woman spending Christmas weekend at her finace's Tennenbaum-like family home. The entire family takes an immediate dislike to her and she calls her sister (Clare Danes) to also visit for support. Eventually Parker moves out and stays at a nearby inn. There are numerous sub-pluts involving everyone in the large family. Parker's character is genuinely unlikeable almost to the end. I had a tough time staying with this one but made it through and was glad I did. According to Ebert, a film called "Junebug" is similar but much better (I've not seen it).
