I have just got back from seeing this as the closing film of the Brisbane International Film Festival and its litle short of magnificent.
Dealing with the republican army in Ireland during the 1920s its portrayal of the British rule is brutal as is the view of the internal split within the IRAs structure after the Free State was set up.
The cast is not star packed but the film is never less than gripping.
The cinematography and direction are masterful.
I think this may be the finest film I have seen this year.
Certainly amongst those of any similar catagory.
Please see this film.
Apparently it is stirring quite a lot of controversy. It deserves to be seen.
