A relief from the modern relentless and loud, obnoxious and often plain offensive movie making. The 1959 film by Robert Bresson is quiet, introspective and insightful, and if you are familiar wih Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment - it will strike quite a few familiar chords.
Of course the Criterion disc comes with great image quality, and all together should produce a very enjoyable evening for your buck-fifty.
