Philip Kaufman directed this stylish remake of the film, which moves the action to San Francisco where (as I post below in "Vertigo") the city becomes another character. Doonald Sutherland is a Public Health Officer who gradually becomes aware that people all around him are changing. He allies himself with a co-worker (Brooke Adams) and a couple of friends (Jeff Goldbloom and Veronica Cartwright) to try to outrun those who've been "snatched" but with limited success. Kevin McCarthy from the 1958 classic has a clever cameo. Leonard Nimoy is excellent as a psychiatrist supposedly treating those who think that the snatchers are afoot. The film has a great surprise ending.
