This is a just released remake of the earlier film and the venue ghas been moved from the British Isles to a private island in Puget Sound. California motorcycle cop Nicholas Cage has been traumatized by a horrific auto crash he witnessed first hand but was unable to do anything about. While mentally recuperating off the job he receives mysterious letter from his former fiance' telling hime that she has a daughter and the daughter lives on the island with her and has gone missing and they need his felp. He travels near to the island, bribes a seaplane captain to drop him just off the island, and starts investigating. The island is inhabited by a strange religious cult, mostly women, who refuse to assist Cage in any way and claim that the girl never existed. I did not enjoy the plodding development of the plot but, not having seen the original, was surprised at the ending. There is even a tacked on epilogue in case anyone missed what was going on. So so.

- The preview, thankfully, was truly awful. Wicker Man is my second favorite film, so it's hardly surprising... - clarkjohnsen 07:22:55 09/05/06 (1)
