The trailer is enticing as one should be. You're right, looks beautiful.It's probably just me, but many times in the past the pace of a movie is relative to my patience level at getting at the root of the story. Second and third viewings have allowed a savoring of the nuances, which completes each mood and moment. Then, the movie now has become faster paced and richer in storyline.
But as you write "the script really does not offer enough character development or an involving storyline/dialogue", maybe the lulls are truly empty spaces.
May I ask, what other asian films of the year were rewarding to you?
