"Inspired by true events" (i.e., valid historical background), a young, idealistic Scottish doctor--recent med school graduate--wants to make a difference, so at home he spins his globe, and on the "second take," his finger lands on Uganda. He travels there to work at a rural health clinic and through happenstance, meets Idi Amin.Forrest Whitaker is terrific as the megalomaniac Idi Amin, and James McAvoy gives a fine nuanced performance as the young Scottish doctor. X-files fans will notice Gillian Anderson as a blonde!
Highly recommended. Whitaker should get an Oscar nomination.
