Re: Pan's Labyrinth

Well, it was, Jack.
It was beautiful, haunting, violent, inspired.
It went to the essence of what a 'fairy story' should be.
It buried Narnia, Lord of the Rings.
The cast was impeccably woven, totally involving and the sets were amazing.
I think a film like this comes along once in a decade, touching deep.
I understand why it received a standing ovation at Cannes and, with this the second film using the Spanish Civil War as a setting (The Devil's Backbone)for del Torro's fantastic worlds, there's hope for a continuation.
If he uses his earned Hollywood dollars to come up with personal films like this, we can only rejoice.
A wonderful film.
