And it very much is Blade Runner, but its a completely different take on the basic story, and that is no more a criticism than saying War Of The Worlds and Day Of The Triffids are both invasion of Earth stories.
Byun-Chun Min has directed a minor masterpiece of a film. THis is clearly not the LA of Blade Runner although an early shot of a spaceship heading into the city away from the camera is a direct lift or conscious homage. I prefer to think the latter.
The effects have won awards and there is a poetry about this film which totally seduced me.
Its concerns show the differences between Korean and US society and also its similarities. A noodle bar is again an important stopping place.
If you get the chance see this film, I think it has appeal beyond the usual suspects of Korean film fans.
