at last I got to see The Black Dahlia

It was an advance showing by the World Cinema Club and the place was quite full.
Having read all the posts here, I wasn't expecting much.
I figured what Scarlett was up to in that she was a "woman with a past" acting innocent and she looked artificial, until the scene where she asks Bucky what future they have.
I thought there might be an extra layer of intelligence going on.
Ah I thought, the hand of the old master director...
Then there was the case of the Linscott family apparently, at least as far as the audience I was with was concerned, played for laughs.
I thought it might be being overplayed in the style of a 40s melodrama.
Ah, I thought, the hand of the old master director...
But then I started noticing how the plot had come off the rails of the book.
How Bucky got from A to B without having to learn to read.
How it seemed like 3 different films because the producers have all told the director they have a different film in mind.
But I agree with Ellroy here, don't look for a great film, just hope it sells a few more books.
How did a guy that slow figure out what had happened and head for the exact house without anyone telling him? Or did I fall asleep. I don't remember being that lucky.
