first viewing. I liked it the first time but this time... I was even more impressed. Pen-Ek is a brilliant director who is saying a lot about contemporary Asian society--- and the human condition--- through a suspenseful, intelligent story of crime and redemption.
No director has surpassed Ratanaruang's harmonizing of image, motion, and music.
SPOILER:
Are the two deaths real or are they the alter egos of the characters, a symbolic detachment from their pasts?
The old house: is it the past glory of the girl's family now fallen into ruin-- the end of the traditional Thai society?
