Just a few oddball movie recommendations for anyone looking for a change of pace. These are all Hollywood films; there are many more foreign films that must wait for another day.1. The Luck of Ginger Coffee - starring Robert Shaw. Compelling drama about an Irish immigrant and his familiy trying to find work after moving to Montreal.
2. The Quare Fellow - starring Patrick McGoohan as a prison guard. Nice bookend to the Prisoner series in which he's a prisoner.
3. Adam at 6:00 am - Michael Douglas in an early, great role as a disenfranchised young man working in a logging camp.
4. Farewell my Lovely - Robert Mitchum is the perfect Phillip Marlowe. Every character in this movie is real and memorable and every scene plays like poetry.
5. That Gang of Mine - 1940's pastiche that has something for everyone including a brief appearance by the three stooges (!) along with lots of great - and unusual - song and dance numbers. Almost impossible to describe but highly entertaining.
More to come...
