William H Macy plays Edmond who just could not stand his marriage anymore and goes out - and down to where he should not, to find companionship. This is a creepy little diddy of a movie and very 'Mamet' like, you will recognize that right away. He finds companionship in the form of whores and pimps and thugs. There is a point in the movie where he turns - for the worse, much worse and he goes to a different place and he adapts, by this time his mind has turned on him and the movie is over. It seems this is a minor effort by Mamet and the whole movie revolves around Macy, the terrific supporting cast are only onscreen for 5 minutes at most. Worth watching if you are in that place of mind.I recently watched I Stand Alone and they are both similar in a 'one guy against the world' sort of a way though I Stand Alone is much more affecting.
