Home Films/DVD Asylum

Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

Kim Ji-Woon's "A Tale of Two Sisters:" a classic of the

horror/ghost genre.
The surprises never quit coming to the point that the viewer can only shake his head in appreciation, wonder... and fear.
What sets this film above many other excellent films is the quality of the performance of the dominant sister: she deserves the Korean equivalent of an Oscar for her performance. The father also gives a performance which would be impossible for an American at this time: restrained throughout with his face and eyes conveying great anguish and torment--- no yelling, scenery-chewing, or histrionics of any sort.
If you have appreciated "The Others," "The Sixth Sense," "The Ring..." don't miss this gem.
The director also is an accomplished comedy director, having made, some five years previously, the very enjoyable, "The Quiet Family."
See "Two Sisters" NOW before Hollywood remakes it and destroys your perspective: the surprises are critical to your pleasure.
