I agree that Murphy and Hudson were good in their roles AND Beyonce is a beauty to be sure....the "makeover" shots of her to look like Diana Ross were remarkable too bad she can't act or sing like Ross.....This film was made (like A Chorus Line) 10-15 years too late...Musicals need to transition to the screen quicker than traditionally they do....Although I will say the adaptation of Chicago was good...but one must wonder what it might have been like directed by Fosse and perhaps starring Minnelli in her hey day.....Dreamgirls will win some awards here and there...but nothing major...it just wasn't at the caliber of Chicago....
