Okay, Rita is hanging with the Baader-Meihof gang. A little homocide, a little light terrorism, a lot of bank robbing. So, they flee to East Germany that, in turn, goes to great pains to hide them from the West. Why?
They were never asked to do anything 'dirty work' or anything else and Rita spends her last years bouncing from one desperate love hookup to another. When the wall comes down she then finds out she was then wanted by both sides of the wall. Poor Rita does not end well nor do her associates.
So, I'm asking, what did East Germany think they were gaining by keeping them hidden from justice?
