I have the US designated dvd version of this film, the one encoded to play in all regions. I don't know for sure, but I believe this version is the only one offered to play in region 1-only players. My question is for anyone with an all region player and the Hong Kong region 3 version dvd. Are you experiencing any issues with the video quality? Plus, is the spoken language natural and truly native to the actors?
The reason I ask is the US version is dubbed in a choice of Cantonese or Mandarin. The picture is stretched and appears to have been shot with a soft-focus filter. Very dark at times and noisy, like poorly lit digital photography.
Obviously a disappointing showing of this fine film. Does the region 3 or any other version look and sound better?
TIA
