incredibly disturbing.I don't know where they found that little girl but without saying much of anything she gave one of the best performances I've ever seen. I almost couldn't stand it when they showed what had happened to her. Even the opening scene... I was taken with her instantly and was horrified that she might... or did...
The rest of the cast was excellent as well.
Like a lot of films I've been seeing lately this was very human but MUCH darker (realistically so, but still) and, for me at least, didn't end hopefully... in part because we all know that life didn't improve much for the group of people being portrayed.
Also like a few recent films it was an incredible window into lives that are usually abstractions to us. This was a VERY well made, hard hitting film with genuine touches of humor and heart but be warned... it's not easy to watch (nor to turn away).
Don't piss on my shoe and tell me it's raining.
