"You've seen all this before but with more style."Examples.
"they look more like grad students than tough cops."
Having dealt with several police investigators, they more than look the part. Perhaps your experiences with police investigators comes from watching the tele.
"The only thing here worthwhile could have been a story of the hitman's relationship with his completely debilitated brother, suffering from the same illness"
You missed the point of introducing the brother into the film. Most of us have no personal knowledge of Alzheimers. Brother, in the early throes of Alzheimers, sees first hand the fate that is his, and realizes that his time on this earth free of the disease are very limited. Had the director spent more film time on Alzheimers, the film would have been about alzheimers, not about the hitman, which I am not sure would have made an more interesting film. You have never seen a film about Alzheimers?
"See the "Bourne" series if you want something far better with style."
The Bourne films are mostly about style. Which is fine. I enjoyed them. But this is not a film about a hitman, as opposed to the Bourne films. Our hero could have been a used car salesman. An attorney. A doctor. Maybe even a bum sitting on a beach somewhere. The film is about a strong, independent man who has spent his life running his life, exercising control over other people's lives, and now must come to grips with the fact that he is falling prey to a disease that he knows will take everything important to him, and which he can do nothing about. The only thing he has left is to try to make things right.
Your comment that this was a "revenge" film amply demontrates that you simply did not understand the film.
