And, as usual, Sir Tony wins by a mile.Hopkins puts in his yeomen performance of a twisted genius bent on revenge---sort of a one-lobe lobotomized Hannibal in retirement. Gosling does well as a kid from off the block making it to the big time.
Hopkins commits what appears to be a slam dunk crime until the case fails apart thread by clever thread due to the brilliant and no amount of scrambling around by Gosling saves his case.
There is some laugh-aloud snappy dialog and the plot is intriguing to a point but starts to lose its fizz in the last third.
Nevertheless, this is worth seeing. Well filmed, great screenplay, and Sir Tony doing his thing.
