Actually, a pretty trite little story with the only novelty being the affair in question was with an adolescent.
Of course, the "heroine" had to be elevated to saintly status hence her devotion to her Down's Syndrome child and her patience with her somewhat (by American standards) "normally" tart-tongued teen.
This is the kind of film where one keeps hoping something interesting or unexpected would happen... but alas, it is in vain.
God, why didn't Hollywood make this and have a few writers liven it up a bit with Dench whacking Cate in the head and burying her in the yard next to Jennifer and the cat?
It just was all so predictable and dull, dull, dull.
I'd love to set up a meeting with the lesbian-bashing writer of this film and the homosexual glorifying one from "The History Boys."
Maybe not: they're both incapable of much emotion, it seems.
