Recorded at the Sydney concert organised by Hal Wilner in 2005 as part of the Sydney Festival, this film features the MacGarrigles and Wainwrights, The Handsome Family with Linda Thompson, (is it Richard and Linda's son) Teddy Thompson, Antony, Nick Cave and near the end an astonishing performance that for my money steals the show and I'm not going to tell you who by.
The house band are very good and includes Chris Spedding.
There are also some incongruous interviews with U2 which comes round at the end to make sense.
I hate U2.
Intercut is a series a interviews with LC explaining his work and also others about what he means to them. These range from the good to the not so good.
Hal Wilner looks extraordinarily like Jerry Garcia after a trip to the barber.
A must for Cohen fans and a good way into his music for outsiders I think.
