Thick As Theives- a black comedy with Adam Baldwin as a contract theif for the Chicago mob and a record collector who listens to mainstream jazz, mostly, as a past time. He runs afoul of a colorful and funny crime boss with a motley crew of associates to include Andre Braugher in Detroit. Actually, they run afoul of him.
Montana- a black comedy with Kyra Sedgewick as a dedicated enforcer for a mob boss and his goons and double crossers. Complex plot and a host of characters that all effect the outcome. Great writing.
The Dancer Upstairs- directed by John Malkovich and starring Javier Bardem as a gentile and highly dedicated counter terrorist investigator in Ecuador (presumably) during a time of a socialist revolution. This actor positively shines and I've read he is scheduled to appear in the Coen brothers next release.
