particularly exciting. No terrible villain. No likeable victim. No great mystery. Cinematography of the great era NYC just average.
A good film, yes, in its workmanlike approach but hardly a "gripping, fascinating, thrilling city exposé."
Barry Fitzgerald as the chief detective that's seen it all is memorable, however. He does more with a look than a thousand followers have with all their scenery chewing.
