Eli, you want to see a tense, visually disturbing movie with some hint of character development you should see this Roland Joffee yuck-fest. I went expecting to see some sophomoric slashing and bodice ripping but was immediately impressed with the opening credits/scene and what followed. (Whoa, I'm not saying this is a critically acclaimed film, ok, I'm talking GENRE here.)
Alisha Cuthbert is a hot NYC model who's mug is plastered everywhere with the latest hot ad campaign. The publicity has drawn the attention of a darker, more sinister force that stalks her and finally captures here at a NYC club one evening. She regains consciousness (classically) is a darkened but well appointed cell where the fun begins.
Oddly, the movie doesn't feature Cuthbert's ample bosom as an attention device as it gets by on the story and action itself. Reminiscent of all capture/kidnap films, one can't help but wonder where villains get all that time and money to construct the most complex imprisonments and devilment's.
There are a few nice turns in the story but like the "Saw" series it remains dark and dungeon-like with a very short cast.
If you're into this genre you can get your yucks with this one.
