Pseudo-documentary drama about Russia in 1916 and the master Svengali, Rasputin. Klimov made Rasputin into such an insane villian that I thought the film was made during the Stalin Soviet ERA. (It wasn't)
The film was cut with archival footage from that era and played with subtitles for each important character during that time. If you are interested in Russian history I suppose that feature was helpful.
