Did you love "Tree of Wooden Clogs?" Well, an earlier effort by that director,

E. Olmi, is just as beautiful though quite different.
"Il Posto" tells the story of a young man living in the country near Milan who must go there in search of a job.
The "plot" isn't much to speak of, the film merely shows his quotidian actions, acquaintances, interest in a colleague, and pressures at home, though the film does expand a bit quickly to sketch some of his office workers, too.
Like Ozu-- or Vermeer, Olmi has crafted a perfect gem from the commonest stone.
"400 Blows" may get a lot more respect but this 1961 film is its equal.
