A story of unrequited love...52 years in the making. Bardem plays a man fatally in love with a woman whose life was decided for her by a stern father. Living in and around her for decades he finally makes his move when her husband (Ben Bratt) dies. This film was written, produced, and directed by Americans yet has the unmistakable feel of a foreign film. It's quite lengthy but compelling as we see how Bardem's life and affairs changed over his years without ever losing his passion for one woman.
Many excellent performances and particular detail to costume and art direction make this an enjoyable watch.
