Across The Universe

Right, it's not the greatest film of all time, the plot is thin and it's historical accuracy is more hysterical.
But none of that really matters.
This is a loosely hung together excuse to make a series of versions of Beatles' songs and for the most part works very well.
Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais have put together a blitz of the 60s counterkulture from the point of view of a couple of teenagers, one British one American and some of it is great... My favourite by far is Eddie Izzard as Mr. Kite dressed as Captain Beefheart. A truly inspired segment and worth the price of entry alone.

Bono as Dr. Robert or more properly Ken Kesey and a more pompous self centred guy it's hard to imagine. Very funny singing I Am The Walrus.
Beatles' fans should go immediately and other will also enjoy it, I think.
