Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

I'm keen to see Atonement too.

Director Joe Wright did a splendid job on Pride & Prejudice in 2005, much to my surprise. Atonement was a very good book, very different of course from Austen, so it will be interesting to see JW's sophomore effort. A lot of the same techs and craftspeople that worked on P&P also came along with Joe to work on this film.

He's one of the most interesting young directors in the UK...I think. Very much a visual storyteller, and he takes a hand in the scripts too, shaping the material. The movie has the same structure as the novel, with the events told from multiple points of view. It's been getting raves where it's screened, at least so far.

The budget for this movie is actually quite small for an historical movie - something around $30mil total, which is chickenfeed by Hollywood standards. But it sure looks like every dollar is up there on the screen.
