A while back Ears made a post about villains one loved too hate; I've
been thinking about that on occasion, two in particular stand out:
(1) David Patrick Kelly as Luther in both "48 Hrs" and "The Warriors", as
Tommy Ray Glatman in "Dreamscape", and (2) Les Carlson as
Barry Convex in "Videodrome".
I believe what's so abhorrent about these two is that they have
absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, no honour(even among criminals), no class, no morals, etc. They exude a sleazy aura of cowardice I find difficult to digest. Makes one want to mash them under
ones foot like the vermin they are. Some badguys are an admixture of
good and bad qualities, with the bad outweighing the good, so one has to
respect certain things about them. But not with these two. - AH
