How the RW crowd jumps to the defense of their "leaders" even when said leaders do or say something incredibly boneheaded? It's plain to see that they are like the proverbial drowning man who, in his panic, fights off his rescuers.

I used to say that Fred Thompson was the only Republican I could ever vote for. He is a smart guy and proved his mettle years ago. National politics has become a game where truth matters naught and advantage is gained through lies and innuendo. To see Fred Thompson taking that road is rather sad as he is better than that. I would hate to see his reputation destroyed like Colin Powell's was. We are judged by the company we keep.

As for Michael Moore - I have not seen SICKO so I'll reserve judgement. If it's like his previous films he tends to subvert his overall message by including cheap stunts and overstating his points. I agree with him, in general, but I think he lacks a bit of grace and his humor is often very heavy-handed.

And if some of this forum's inmates disagree with me, well, they have every right to do so, even if they are wrong. :-)
